Botched Parking Job Caused Driver To Hit Meter, Tree, Restaurant: Cops

No injuries, summonses in Wednesday incident, police said.

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The crash that shut a portion of Main Street in Hackettstown Wednesday was due to a failed attempt at parking, police said.

Police responded to Marley’s Gotham Grill at 169 Main Street at 11:18 a.m. for a report of a vehicle that struck the front of the building, Sgt. Darren Tynan said.

An investigation revealed Susan Karner, 59, of Mansfield, was attempting to park her Subaru when the vehicle accelerated, striking an electrical box, parking meter, tree, and front of the restaurant, Tynan said.

The front portion of the building received minimal damage and there were no injuries reported.

No summonses were issued and the road was closed for approximately one hour.
