Car Hits Hackettstown Business, Traffic Signal: Police

No injuries were reported in the accident that also involved another car.

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ - An SUV bounded off a truck, went through an intersection and a traffic signal before hitting a Hackettstown restaurant Tuesday morning, authorities said.

Washington resident Jeffrey Heymann, 62, was charged with failure to observe a traffic signal and careless driving.

Just before 5 a.m. Heymann passed out behind the wheel of his 2006 Land Rover on Route 57, drove through a red light and slammed into a 2016 Dodge Ram that was travelling south on Route 182, police said.

Heymann's Land Rover continued through the intersection, struck a pedestrian signal and then crashed into the front of Budd Lake Bagel & Deli II, police said. The crash caused damage to the building and there were no injuries reported, police said.
