Flower Planter Damage Leads to Charges for Teens
Costs amount to more than $1K of damage for broken planters.

Police have now formally charged two teenagers with destroying about 25 flower planters on Hackettstown's Main Street last week.
A 15-year-old male and 17-year-old female, both from Hackettstown, were each charged with criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and obstruction of a roadway, according to Sgt. Darren Tynan. The teenagers were not named by police, as they are juveniles.
Police began their investigation of the broken planters, which were recently recognized by the Warren Garden Club after they were installed by the Hackettstown Business Improvement District, when they were damaged overnight on Friday. The planters had been pushed over into the roadway and damaged by a total of $1,385.62.
The teenagers were arrested on Monday and brought to the Hackettstown police station, Tynan said. They were later released with a date to appear in court.
