Fulbright Foreign Students from 34 Countries to Study at Centenary

Students to learn about the United States through interactive workshops, field trips.

The following was submitted by Centenary College.

From Aug. 5 to Aug. 9, Centenary College will host a Fulbright Gateway Orientation for newly arrived Fulbright Foreign Students. 

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), the Fulbright Gateway Orientation Program is made available to Fulbright Foreign Students as part of its flagship Fulbright Program and is designed by the Institute of International Education (IIE) in cooperation with ECA. The Fulbright Gateway Orientations are intended to address participants’ roles and responsibilities as Fulbrighters and to enhance their skills for academic, personal and professional success while in the United States.

The Fulbright Gateway Orientation, held primarily at Centenary College, will feature interactive workshops on topics such as handling culture shock and understanding U.S. academic culture and political life. Through these events, participating students will develop a better awareness of the United States and their leadership role as Fulbrighters.  

Some off-site opportunities include visiting SteelStacks in Bethlehem, Pa. and Winakung at Waterloo, Inc. in Stanhope.
