Girls Take Off During 'Suspicious Incident:' Hackettstown Police
Hackettstown Police Department said it's not clear if a driver, who three middle school girls said was staring at them, was following them.
HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — As three girls were coming from Hackettstown Middle School on Thursday, they told the Hackettstown Police Department they ran away after they saw a man stop his car and stare at them.
In what the police department is calling a “suspicious incident,” Sgt. Darren Tynan, a spokesperson for Hackettstown Police, said in a news release on Friday, that the girls took off on foot while they were near Centenary University between Second and Third Avenues on Thursday around 3 p.m.

The girls then ran away. The vehicle believed to have turned down Second Ave and make a left onto Grand Ave. It’s unknown if the vehicle was attempting to follow the girls. The older male is described as having an olive skin color, gray beard and wearing a maroon turban.

It’s not known, Tynan said, if the man, was following them.
The girls told police he may driven onto Second Avenue, before proceeding to Grand Avenue.
