Hackettstown To Ban Cannabis Smoking In Recreational Areas
The ordinance on the books currently prohibits smoking tobacco products in recreational zones, with restrictions soon on cannabis smoking.
HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — Though the Hackettstown Town Council just recently passed an ordinance to allow cannabis retailers to open in certain sections of town - and cultivators and manufacturers in others - the council also plans to update its code to disallow cannabis smoking in recreational areas.
The Town Council introduced the ordinance on Aug. 12, which is up for a public hearing at the Thursday, Sept. 9 meeting.
The ordinance to be adopted will state that smoking neither tobacco nor cannabis will be allowed at recreational facilities, sports fields or recreational properties that are “owned, leased or operated by the Town of Hackettstown or Hackettstown Recreation Commission.”
