Cops: Hackettstown Woman Made Fake 911 Calls to Harass Residents
Mariela Minaya-Douglas was charged with making two phony 911 calls about a East Plane Street address, police said.

A Hackettstown woman was charged Wednesday with making two fake 911 calls to harass people living at an East Plane Street home, police said.
Sgt. Darren Tynan said Mariela Minaya-Douglas, 31, had called 911 on Nov. 18, saying she was locked in the basement of the East Plane Street residence, that they had taken her phone, and she needed help. Police rushed to the scene and found that the report was fake, Tynan said.
A similar call was placed to 911 on Sunday regarding the same address. A woman who called the emergency number said, "Help me!" and hung up, Tynan said. Police again responded to the East Plane Street home and found the call was also a fake.
After a police investigation, Minaya-Douglas was charged with two counts of falsely calling 911, a fourth-degree crime, and was released pending a court appearance.
