Knife-Wielding Man Sought After Stabbing Victim Twice in Hackettstown: Cops
Incident occurred early Sunday morning, police seeking white or hispanic male with shoulder length hair.

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – Local and area authorities are searching for a man who allegedly stabbed a victim in the foot and back in Hackettstown early Sunday morning, Sgt. Darren Tynan said.
Police received a call at 1:23 a.m. for a report of a stabbing in the area of Madison Street and West Moore Street, Tynan said, where an investigation revealed a 28-year-old man was approached by a white or Hispanic male.
The suspect, wearing a dark colored trench coat or long sweatshirt, black beanie hat and shoulder length hair, asked the victim for a cigarette or money, Tynan said. The victim didn’t have a cigarette and did not hand over any money, Tynan said.

That’s when the suspect pulled a knife, but the victim kicked the weapon out of suspect’s hand, Tynan said. While attempting to do so, the victim was stabbed in the foot, but ran off before collapsing in a front yard, Tynan said.
The suspect chased after the victim and stabbed him in the back when he collapsed, Tynan said.

A person driving in the area saw the victim lying on the ground and ran after the suspect but eventually lost sight of the alleged assailant.
The victim was taken to Morristown Medical Center and placed in the intensive care unit.
