Man Assaulted 2 At Gunpoint In Delaware Water Gap Park: PD
The man was arrested in Hackettstown following the alleged hold-up in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, police say.
HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — More details have been released about an alleged assault at gunpoint in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, following an arrest in Hackettstown on Labor Day.
Jeffrey Mulcahy, 70, of Wayne, is accused of pulling an air soft gun on a couple near Kittatinny Point in the national park around 4 p.m. on Labor Day. According to Park Police, the boyfriend fought Mulcahy off, and the girlfriend was able to grab the gun when it fell on the ground during a "scuffle." Mulcahy fled in car at that point, police said.
The boyfriend was able to give police a description of Mulcahy and his car, including the license plate number and the direction he was heading.

The couple was uninjured in the incident, and both declined medical treatment, police said.

Federal charges against Mulcahy are still pending, Park Police said. He is being held in the Pike County Correctional Facility ahead of a hearing in Trenton on Wednesday.
