Residents also evacuated their home because of a gas odor after the crash, with gas meters and a furnace vent damaged.

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — The Hackettstown Police Department has charged a man with DWI who drove into the side of a Willow Grove Street house this past Sunday.

The crash resulted in residents having to exit their home for a while until the gas company cleared them to return, because of a gas odor. The crash damaged not only a support beam for the home’s front porch, but impacted a furnace vent and two gas meters affixed to the residence.

Sgt. Darren Tynan, a spokesperson for the police department, said no one was injured during the incident, which happened shortly after midnight on Aug. 1, shutting down the street between Maple Avenue and Route 46 for about 1.5 hours.
