Pedestrian Hit By Car In Hackettstown: PD

The driver reportedly told police he didn't see the woman in the crosswalk.

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — A Hackettstown woman was hit by a car while crossing the street Wednesday morning, Hackettstown police said.

The woman, who was not identified, was crossing the road at Route 517 and Route 46 around 9:30 a.m. Police say she did have the walk sign when she began crossing.

As she was crossing, William Deerr, 38, from Egg Harbor, turned left off of Route 46 and onto Route 517 and struck her, police said. "William stated he didn’t see the pedestrian as he made the turn due to a large box truck stopped in the Route 46 intersection, which he had to go around to make the left turn," police said.
