Pending Storm Could Cause Snow Emergency in Hackettstown

Keep your eyes out for notification about a declared snow emergency. Here's where to look.

With an impending 5-to 9-inch snowstorm on the way, the Hackettstown Police would like to remind residents of parking restrictions during a declared snow emergency.

If the Hackettstown declares a snow emergency, there is no parking allowed on any streets in Hackettstown (according to Local Ordinance 12-45), except in the municipal lots, Sgt. Darren Tynan said in a release.

If no snow emergency is declared, parking is allowed on Main Street (Route 46) between Stiger and Warren streets during snowstorms. This ordinance has been in effect for many years.

When the snow emergency has been declared it will be sent out via Nixle Alerts, which people can get the alerts by texting “07840” to “888-777”. They can also sign up online by going to nixle.com.

The snow emergency information will also be posted on the Hackettstown Police Department's Facebook page, on the town's website, and media outlets will also be notified, Tynan said.

When the snow emergency has been lifted, another alert will be sent out, he added.
