Warren County Gets $16K Grant For Youth, Policing Program

New Jersey's Acting Attorney General Andrew Bruck recently announced the program, which awarded $165,000 to nine agencies and two towns.

WARREN COUNTY, NJ — An upcoming health and wellness field day for high school youth will be happening in Warren County, thanks to a $15,917 grant from the state.

Acting Attorney General Andrew Bruck recently announced grants going to nine agencies and two towns statewide, including one to Warren County’s Prosecutor’s Office, as part of his office’s “Bolstering Police - Youth Trust Program.”

Federal monies for the grant, he said, are from the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program.

The Prosecutor’s Office is receiving its grant to host the Health and Wellness Field Day for high school youth in the county who are grappling with substance abuse, issues with their emotional health and who are involved in the juvenile justice system.

According to a news release from Bruck’s office, Warren County Prosecutor’s Office is planning to host a basketball tournament between youth and police officer teams. Prior to the tourney, police and the high schoolers are planning to mingle while they practice their hoops and eat pizza.

Bruck’s office stated the Prosecutor’s Office is planning community days as well for youth, who will help with planning and public relations on social media, for those upcoming events.

“Some of the best ideas for strengthening police-community trust come from our local communities, and we’re excited to use our resources to seed particularly promising projects in towns across the Garden State,” said Bruck.

Other groups that received monies for police and youth programs are:

$14,200 to Bayonne Police Department for its Explorer’s Program
$6,473 to Camden County Police Department for its Curfew Diversion Initiative
$16,500 to Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office for its Bolstering Police-Youth Trust Program
$16,500 to Franklin Township Police for its Bolstering Police-Youth Trust Program
$16,500 to Glassboro Police Department for its Bolstering Police-Youth Trust Program
$12,910 to the New Jersey State Police for its Bolstering Police-Youth Trust Program
$16,500 to Orange Township for its Junior Public Safety Academy
$16,500 to Palisades Park Police Department for its Bolstering Police-Youth Trust Program
$16,500 to Passaic County Sheriff’s Office for its Obstacle Course/Law Enforcement Day
$16,500 to City of Perth Amboy for Ciclovia Perth Amboy
