County clerk's office investigated ballots further after tight primary race.

The preliminary results of a recount in the Warren County Sheriff's Office Republican primary race still show incumbent David Gallant in the lead over James McDonald for the sheriff's position, according to NJ.com
Initially, Gallant had a four-vote lead over McDonald as the votes were counted on election night on June 4. McDonald, chief of the Washington Township Police Department, had received 3,548 votes while Gallant received 3,552. McDonald had planned to challenge the votes with a recount.
