Car vs. Pole on Haddon Ave. Downs Utility Lines

One person was taken by ambulance to an area hospital Tuesday afternoon after a car smashed into a utility pole and snapped it, Haddonfield police said.

The one-car accident occurred at 1:28 p.m. at Haddon and Merion avenues. The condition of the victim was not immediately reported, but was believed to be non-life-threatening, according to Lt. Ed Wiley.

Haddon Avenue remained closed from Redman to Mt. Vernon for several hours afterward until utility crews arrived to deal with the downed wires.

No charges were immediately reported. The accident remains under investigation.
