Commissioners Unanimously Agree on New Bancroft Planner

The Battle for Bancroft: Clarke Caton Hintz of Trenton agreed on in work session before public meeting tonight.

The Board of Commissioners on Monday evening unanimously agreed on Clarke Caton Hintz as the next planning firm for the redevelopment of the 19.11-acre Bancroft property on Kings Highway.

The decision was made in the board's regular work session at 5 p.m. at borough hall before a public meeting at 7:30 p.m. The board is set to formally vote on the planner during the public meeting.

Clarke Caton Hintz of Trenton beat out Group Melvin Design of Woodbury and three other firms. The Bancroft redevelopment has been a major public concern for nearly a decade. The commissioners scrapped a previous plan last month. That plan had been considered for the past six years.

Commissioners said the public had lost confidence in the old plan and they hope a new plan can gage public opinion about Bancroft, one of the last available spaces for redevelopment in this 2.5-square-mile borough.
