Haddonfield Gazebo Moves Closer To Reopening, Employee Says

The gazebo was damaged after a truck crashed into it in July, police said.

HADDONFIELD, NJ — Repair work on Haddonfield's gazebo should begin "within a week or two," a borough employee said at the Aug. 29 commissioners' meeting.

Patch previously reported that the gazebo has been off limits ever since an SUV crashed into it in July.

"We've had multiple contractors out there," Public Works Director Greg Ley told meeting attendees. "I am happy to announce that a [purchase order] has been issued."

The borough ran into a little bit of luck regarding the crash, he told Patch after the meeting.

"The pillar the SUV hit was decorative and not a support post or a weight-bearing one," he said.

The repairs to the gazebo are expected to cost approximately $3,000, Ley added.

When the repairs are done, the gazebo will be repainted, and the structure should look practically the same as it did before the crash, he said.
