Haddonfield Switching Trash Collectors To Avoid Price Hikes: Officials
The borough will have a new garbage collector in a few weeks. Here's what residents should know.
HADDONFIELD, NJ — Haddonfield will soon have a new garbage collector after the current provider wanted to increase costs by more than 200 percent, officials said.
Suburban Disposal, a New Jersey company, will begin collecting trash in Haddonfield on Sept. 1. Pickups will start at 7 a.m.
The current provider, Waste Management, wanted to hike prices by 216 percent, citing operational costs, according to borough officials.

Meanwhile, Suburban Disposal disposal submitted a bid slightly lower than Haddonfield's current rate. The borough is required to award the contract to the lowest responsible bidder.
Suburban Disposal is only handling trash collection, and the borough will continue managing recycling services separately.

The change in providers is not expected to impact the trash-pickup schedule, a borough spokesperson told Patch. But local officials are asking residents for patients as the drivers learn the routes.
