Local High School Students' Test Scores Slip, but Still Remain High

However, the district scored below districts with similar economic and demographic characteristic, know as the district factor group and noted as DFG in the charts below.

Haddonfield Memorial High School principal Mike Wilson said there is room for improvement, but said it doesn't diminish his school's achievement.

"It's something we have to keep an eye on," he said about the declining test numbers. "We should have higher standards," he said because of the district factor group Haddonfield is in. It is made up of similarly wealthy towns around the state.

"The math number concerns me more than anything," Wilson said. "We need to look at that. I would like to see that math number go up."

Haddonfield scored an average of 576 out of a possible 800 score. The DFG average is 606 and the state average is 520.

Wilson said the high number of students taking the SAT is also a factor in the average score. Ninety-two percent of Haddonfield high school students took the SAT in 2009-10, which matched the DFG percentage. The statewide percentage is 66 percent.
