SJ Theater Company Auditioning for 'Annie Warbucks'
The Moorestown Theater company will put on the lesser-known sequel later this year.

Everyone knows the Tony Award-winning story of the original Annie, but did you know there was a sequel?
The Moorestown Theater Company (MTC) is banking on the fact that many of its audience members probably aren't all that familiar with the follow-up story to the original Annie as it gets set to host auditions for the Fall Stage production of Annie Warbucks.
The original Annie was MTC's very first show when it opened 10 years ago, and the company has performed the junior version of the show twice since then.

"We've done Annie so often that we figured, let's just try a different version of it," said producing artistic director Mark Morgan. "(Annie Warbucks) is a really good show ... We are offering something very different."
Morgan said Warbucks is not frequently performed; in fact, it's never been on Broadway. So this may be a rare opportunity for locals to catch the spin-off of the much-beloved classic.

The theater company will hold auditions for the production from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Hope Community Church. The show is open to children ages 6-17.
Every child who auditions will get a part in the play, Morgan stressed. MTC does not cut.
Annie Warbucks premieres Nov. 29 and runs through Dec. 8. MTC's production of 42nd Street runs from Nov. 9-17.
