New Wawa Opening This Spring In The Haddon Area
The new Wawa location will replace a shuttered auto dealership. Here's what we know.

OAKLYN, NJ — Wawa will expand its local presence with plans to open a new store this spring in the Haddon area.
The gas station and convenience store favorite has a handful of stores scheduled to open in Spring 2023. One new location is slated for 1006 White Horse Pike, Oaklyn.
The new Wawa will replace the shuttered Burns Auto dealership. Wawa has a store down the street at 800 White Horse Pike. It's not immediately clear whether the chain has plans for that location when the new store opens.

Last year, Wawa CEO Chris Gheysens told the Philadelphia Business Journal the company plans to open another 1,800 locations in states across the U.S. The chain has more than 260 stores in New Jersey.
The Oaklyn location is one of five new stores Wawa plans to open this spring. The chain hasn't listed opening dates as of Tuesday, but menus are available.

Wawa's future expansion plans include stores with travel centers — "Wawa on steroids," Gheysens told the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philadelphia's 2023 Economic Outlook last January.
Gheysens first hinted last April at opening travel centers, telling the Business Journal that the company plans to nearly double its store count and operate about 1,800 locations by 2030. The plan involves new locations in existing markets and expansion into new states.

The opening of travel centers will likely take five years, a Wawa spokesperson told NBC10 Philadelphia. The facilities will be bigger than typical Wawa stores and located in more high-profile locations on major highways, such as Interstate 95, which has a lengthy stretch in the Garden State.
