Peace Love Pickles To Stay In Business, Despite Haddon Heights Café's Future Closure
The shop selling the sandwiches, which use pickles instead of bread, will close. But Peace Love Pickles will power on in some form.

HADDON HEIGHTS, NJ — The future of Peace Loves Pickles remains uncertain. But the smash-hit pickle business will have a future.
Known for its sandwiches that replace bread with pickles, Peace Love Pickles has sold its delicacies out of Simply Station Haddon Heights in recent months. But Simply Station — a café and smoothie bar — plans to permanently close in mid-December. The store will no longer sell the pickle products as of next week.
But Peace Love Pickles will power on, according to Katherine Cohen, the business's owner and "head pickle proprietor."

"Right now we're going to take a break from the brick and mortar and focus our efforts on the wholesaling of our pickle products and mixers," Cohen told Patch.
Peace Love Pickles may have another brick-and-mortar presence in the future — possibly in New Jersey, Pennsylvania or out West — Cohen said.

Over the years, Peace Love Pickles developed a major fanbase, including 55,000 Facebook followers. The business has shown that anything's possible between a hollowed-out pickle, with offerings from Italian deli meats to Flamin' Hot Cheetos served between its namesake product.
Cohen began making the pickle sandwiches for her mother, who has diabetes, at her family's general store in Linwood. A customer walked in and ordered 10, which led to the sandwiches becoming a major hit, according to Philly Grub.
Formerly known as Elsie's, the flagship Peace Love Pickles location in Haddon Township opened in 2019. Two years later, the pickle concoctions garnered internet fame, and they started offering franchises. But the franchised locations in Atlantic Highlands and Northfield didn't last long. Then, a family emergency prompted Peace Love Pickles to close its Haddon Township store last year, according to South Jersey Food Scene.
Despite adversity, Peace Love Pickles has been as adaptable as pickles themselves. Simply Station owner Lauren Cummins gave the business new life when she proposed bringing the pickle products to her shop.
Peace Love Pickles began selling out of Simply Station earlier this year. Although the arrangement couldn't last long, Cohen feels grateful for the opportunity.
"Lauren from Simply Station is an amazing person," Cohen said, "and we were so fortunate to work with her and her wonderful team."
