Police Dispel Report Of Suspicious Man By Haddonfield Playground

Investigators determined he was in the area for lawful purposes, police said.

HADDONFIELD, NJ — Police determined there was no risk to the public after investigating a report of suspicious behavior near a Haddonfield playground.

Shortly before 11 a.m., officers were alerted about a "suspicious male sitting in a vehicle" near the preschool playground at Haddonfield United Methodist Church, police said.

The man left the area before police arrived.

An investigation ensued, and the driver was identified. He later spoke to police, who determined he was on church property for a lawful purpose.

"At no time were any children, staff or public at any risk of harm," the Haddonfield Police Department said in an advisory.

"The Haddonfield Police continue to place the public’s safety as a high priority and take all calls regarding suspicious incidents seriously," the statement continued. "This is a reminder that if you see something suspicious, please notify authorities immediately."
