Man Who Sexually Assaulted Toddler In South Jersey Faces Life In Prison

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, NJ — A Cumberland County man faces life in prison after a jury found him guilty Wednesday of sexually assaulting a toddler.
Jorge Deleon Diaz was accused of sexually assaulting a 2-year-old girl in July 2023, when he was arrested. No other information about the incident has been disclosed.
During the trial, the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office presented eyewitness testimony, DNA evidence and Diaz's own admissions.

The jury found Diaz, 53, guilty of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault, third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, and fourth-degree lewdness.
Diaz, who lived in Vineland, faces 25 years to life in prison for the aggravated sexual assault conviction alone.

After serving his prison sentence, Diaz must register as a sex offender and be subject to parole supervision for life.
Sentencing is scheduled for May 19.
