Community Invited to Join Veterans in Memorial Day Services

Memorial Day program will include a parade along Terrace Avenue to Veterans Memorial Park where services will be held.

The entire community is invited to join local veterans for memorial services Monday during the borough’s annual parade and ceremony which will begin at 9:30 a.m.

Borough and school officials, local clergy and community organizations will all take part in the services which begin with a parade marching up Terrace Avenue beginning at Lawrence Avenue up to located at Passaic Avenue.

Procession will be led by local officials, the NY Skyliners Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps, the James B. Scarr Post 106 American Legion post, which is led by its commander Michael J. Cahill, and the led by its commander, Andrew Gamble.

They will be followed by the John Dukes Marching Band and members of the , Knights of Columbus, Men’s Group. The high school marching band will be featured followed by the local scout troops and the borough’s volunteer fire department and EMS squad.

Michael Cahill, commander of the American Legion Post will serve as master of ceremonies. Mayor Rose Heck and Board of Education President Josephine Ciocia are slated to serve as the speakers. Following the ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park, a ceremony will be held up the road at Firemen’s Memorial Park at the Boulevard and the circle at Passaic Avenue.

Following the program, the American Legion and VFW will be serving refreshments at the Veterans Memorial Park.
