Demolition of Old Park Pavilion Could Begin Next Week
Borough awards contract to begin work to replace old pavilion at Woodland Park with a new structure. The project is still slated to be completed by spring, according to the borough engineer.

Demolition of the old Woodland Park pavillion could begin as early as next week now that the borough has awarded a contract for the project.
The project to replace the old structure is still on track to be completed by May 1 provided extreme weather events don't interfere and the pavillion is delivered on time, reported Ken Job, the borough engineer.
The existing pavilion is said to have long outlasted its life span. The new one will be built around the existing fireplace structure, which was a gift from the Lions Club, a 80-year old borough organization which was instrumental in the establishment of Woodland Park decades ago.

Originally work was slated to begin this past fall but Hurricane Sandy and bids coming in slighter higher than planned delayed the project by a few months. Tuesday night the borough introduced an amended ordinance in order to appropriate some additional funds needed to award the bid.
Half of the project is being paid for by a Bergen County Open Trust Fund grant. The borough is funding the other half of the costs.
