Democrat Christian Semenecz, a former councilman, longtime volunteer firefighter and former chief, looks to unseat one of the incumbents. The Hasbrouck Heights council is all Republican, including its Mayor, Rose Heck. There has not been a Democrat elected to the council for a number of years.
