Heights Municipal Budget to be Introduced Tuesday

Also on the agenda is the continuation of talks regarding proposed procedures for promoting police officers, and two more fire department volunteers resign.

Hasbrouck Heights governing body is expected to introduce the 2013 municipal budget during the Tuesday mayor and council meeting.

Based on preliminary budget talks, the amount to be collected by taxpayers would increase by about $45 for the average homeowner whose property is valued at around $350,000.

Public hearing on a proposed ordinance that would now set rules on how police promotions are granted within the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department is set to continue tonight. Earlier this month PBA members, along with their attorney, expressed opposition to the proposed procedure calling it "unfair" and sought an open discussion regarding the procedure.
