Heights School Budget, 'Bugsy Malone' Hits the Stage This Week

The proposed budget for the 2013-2014 school year may be among the featured discussion points Thursday night when the Hasbrouck Heights Board of Education convenes.
Earlier this month the board approved a tenative budget in the amount of $28.6 million which would collect $25,980,566 from Hasbrouck Heights taxpayers and $135,731 from Teterboro.

Compared with last year's figures the tax levy appears to have an increase of roughly 4 percent over the 2012-2013 tax levy.
Also expected Thursday during the Board of Education meeting will be a presentation from represenatives of CDI, the consulting firm hired to conduct a security assessment for the district.

The consultants are currently reviewing the school's security policies, meeting with school administrators and police department officials.

Mickey's Kids Foundation hosts its annual Dancing Under the Stars fundraiser event Friday night in benefit for Canine Assistants. The event is already sold out.
This Saturday the borough's annual Easter Egg hunt takes place at Depken Field. Youngsters can get admission tickets from their school or parents can get them by visiting Borough Hall during regular business hours.
