UPDATE: Heights Snow Forecast: 3 to 5 Inches

National Weather Service updates the forecast for snow accumulation Monday into Tuesday.

UPDATE 11:40 PM. -  About 3 to 5 inches of snow accumulation is now expected for the Hasbrouck Heights area, the National Weather Service reports.

The winter weather advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Tuesday, the weather service reports.

The updated forecast predicts snow will change to sleet and freezing rain after midnight turning into rain Tuesday morning which could last into the afternoon.

The weather service advises caution during the Tuesday morning rush hour as a light accumulation of ice expected overnight on top of a light accumulation of snow can make driving hazardous.

  • Overnight  - Rain, snow, and sleet before 3am, then rain and sleet. Low around 31. East wind 10 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total nighttime snow and sleet accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.
  • Tuesday - Rain, mainly before noon. High near 46. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
  • Tuesday - Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 28. West wind 10 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph.
