Police Promotion Procedure Hearing Continues This Week

Also the 2013 municipal budget will be introduced on Tuesday night.

More discussion regarding a proposed set of rules for how police promotions would be granted is expected for the Tuesday night mayor and council meeting.

Earlier this month a group of PBA members came out in protest against the proposed rules calling them "unfair" asking for an open discussion. The PBA members had claimed they had not learned of the proposed promotion procedures until they saw a legal advertisement in the local newspaper.

The governing body moved to continue the public hearing in order to allow time for PBA leaders and their attorney to meet with the police committee before moving ahead.

Also the 2013 municipal budget will be presented Tuesday night. According to the borough's chief financial officer, Mike Kronyak, a projected increase in the amount to be collected from taxpayers would amount to roughly $45 for the average homeowner.
