Fire Company Dedicates Two Trucks at Wetdown

New command vehicle and pumper trucks put in service.

Hillsborough's Woods Road Volunteer Fire Company no. 3 added a command vehicle and a new pumper truck to its fleet, Saturday.

At a celebration attended by members of nearly two dozen fire companies from Hunterdon, Union, Middlesex and Somerset counties, the trucks were christened with champagne--then let out to play.

As hundreds of visitors enjoyed lunch, bought raffle tickets or signed up for a drawing for a new Harley Davidson motorcycle offered by the Rotary Club, fire fighters lined their trucks up for the "Wetdown," spraying each other with the fire hoses.

While seven companies squared off, Woods Roads' new trucks were drenched to signify their new service.

The Wetdown started at 2 p.m. and continues with food, drinks and live music.
