Guidice Wrestling for Fifth on Sunday
The Hillsborough grappler takes the mat Sunday in the 140-pound division.
T.J. Guidice (140) of Hillsborough will compete for fifth place in his bracket on the last day of the state wrestling tournament in Atlantic City.
Guidice started Saturday on a sour note, losing in a quarterfinal match to Eric Fajardo of Boonton in a 4-2 decision. Guidice spent the rest of the day trying to recover from the loss, beating Antonio Mancella of Oakcrest in an 8-0 decision before besting Kevin Collins of Randolph in a 3-2 decision.
Guidice said that his slow start against Collins was a product of performance jitters.

“It takes a lot of nerves coming out here in front of all these people,” he said. “I’ve been here before, though, and I know that if I stick to my plan, I’ll get the points.”
Guidice ended his day with a loss against Devon Gobbo of Delbarton, who bested the Hillsborough wrestler in a 13-0 decision.
