HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Hillsborough local Melinda Barros' love of getting welded bracelets with her daughter has flourished into two permanent jewelry boutiques.

Barros opened her first Forever Linxx location at 2 Division Street, Suite 9, 2nd Floor, in Somerville in May 2023. Now she is celebrating the grand opening of her second location in the Bridgewater Commons on the Main Level next to Gloria Jean's Coffee.

"We are thrilled to announce the opening of our second location at Bridgewater Commons. This new store offers an incredible opportunity to share our unique jewelry with even more customers," said Barros to Patch. "Our time at the Somerville location has been truly rewarding, and we’re eagerly anticipating the exciting experiences that await us at Bridgewater."

The idea to open Forever Linxx came after a trip to New York City to get welded bracelets with her daughter.

"Welded Jewelry is jewelry that you do not take off. It is permanently welded on (to itself, not to you). With the intention of never taking it off, thus being called Permanent Jewelry," Barros previously told Patch.

While the idea of having something welded to you is a scary thought, Barros assured that the process is quite simple.

Instead of having a traditional clasp the bracelet, necklace, or anklet chain is custom fitted to your wrist. The ends are then welded together with a small zap.

Barros said the process is quick and painless.

From start to finish the process takes about 15 minutes and the process of welding only take a couple of seconds, said Barros.
