As school years across the country begin coming to an end, a number of Hillsborough Township natives have received honors or been inducted into a prestigious honor society at their respective institutions of higher education.

Natalie Thompson, a first-year student majoring in chemical engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) in Worcester, Massachusetts, was recently named a Charles O. Thompson Scholar for the 2014-15 academic year.

The honor, named after the first president of Worcester Polytechnic, acknowledges outstanding performance by first-year students. Students are eligible for the honor if they achieve all A’s and B’s (with a minimum of six A’s) in their academic subjects during their first three terms at WPI.

Thomas Kozlowski and Jack Werner were elected into Phi Beta Kappa at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ).

The honor society is widely considered to be the oldest honor society in the United States, having been established by five students at the College of William and Mary in 1776. There are only 283 Phi Beta Kappa chapters in the nation, and TCNJ’s chapter is one of only four in the state of New Jersey.
