Hillsborough, NJ Tree Recovery Campaign Distributing Free Tree Saplings to Residents

The first 200 township residents at the Auten Road Facility will receive five saplings to replace any trees lost to Superstorm Sandy.

As part of an ongoing effort to replant trees uprooted by Superstorm Sandy, Hillsborough Township and the NJ Tree Recovery Campaign will be offering free sapling giveaways beginning later this week.

The first 200 residents to visit the Auten Road Facility on Saturday, April 11, will receive five seedlings to plant on their property as a replacement, if they lost any trees during Superstorm Sandy or any subsequent weather events, the township said. Instructions on how to store, care for and plant them will be provided.

Residents should plant the seedlings within two days after pick-up in order to prevent the roots from drying out.
