Hillsborough School District Approves New HR Director

The district's new HR director has lots of experience in music and performing arts education.

HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — The Hillsborough Township Public Schools board approved a new human resources director during Monday night's meeting, according to school officials. Michael Callahan will start work on July 2.

Previously, Callahan was the District Supervisor of Visual/Performing Arts where he oversaw visual and performing arts in the district's nine schools.

"Serving this community has been a true privilege," Callahan said, according to the release sent to Patch. "I am extremely proud of the work we do and elated to expand my role with Hillsborough Township Public Schools," he said.

His work as the visual and performing arts supervisor included creating and implementing a professional development program for district staff members, the release says.

Callahan's teaching past was largely focused on performing arts, as he studied music education at the University of Rochester. He also has a Master of Arts in educational administration, the release says. Now, Callahan is working towards his Doctorate in educational leadership.

“His deep understanding of the district’s students and staff will serve him well in his new position as Director of Human Resources,” Jorden Schiff, Superintendent of Hillsborough Schools, said.
