Hillsborough Schools Names New Supervisor Of Fine And Performing Arts

At the June 22, 2015 Hillsborough Board of Education meeting, Michael F. Callahan was unanimously approved as the new District Supervisor Visual and Performing Arts/Family & Consumer Science. Callahan will be joining Hillsborough Township Public Schools on July 1, 2015 from Somerville Public Schools where he served as the district’s Director of Chorus & Drama and the Exploratory Team Leader.

In addition to Callahan’s teaching and team leader duties, he is Founding Director of Somerville Public School’s Summer Performing Arts Camp, a full day summer program that is attended by more than 30 percent of the student population. Callahan is also the Director of Student Ministries for the Presbyterian Church of Madison and the Founding Director and Owner of Lyric Theater Academy which provides camps, classes and lessons in the performing arts.

Callahan studied Vocal Performance and Music Education at the Eastman School of Music where he earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education. He also holds a Master of Arts in Educational Administration from Caldwell College.
