Hillsborough Township Named Among Safest Cities in America

Hillsborough Township was named to a list of the 100 Safest Cities in America, according to Safewise.com.

Hillsborough Township was ranked No. 46 on the list of safest cities from SafeWise, a community-focused security organization committed to increasing safety education, awareness, and preparedness.

“National publications like Money consistently rank Hillsborough Township as a great place to live,” the report said. “In terms of safety, the city takes preventative steps with services like the Fire Safety Education Unit, which educates over 5,000 children annually and features a “smoke trailer” for live demonstrations.”

SafeWise reported the following statistics for Hillsborough Township:

• Population: 39,037
• Violent Crimes per 1,000: 0.18
• Property Crimes per 1,000: 4.97

To compile the list, Safewise.com used the most recent Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) crime statistics from 2013. The website then combined the FBI data with its own research highlighting each city’s public safety, public health, and educational information.
