Jump Shot Gym Opens In Hillsborough
Hillsborough couple Jim and Lara Hoyt are opening the specialized facility with eight basketball hoops and Dr. Dish shooting machines.
HILLSBOROUGH, NJ — Township couple Jim and Lara Hoyt are bringing a novel, state-of-the-art training spot called Jump Shot Gym to Hillsborough.
On Friday, the specialized facility with eight basketball hoops and Dr. Dish shooting machines will celebrate its grand opening at 1 Jill Court, Suite 25, in Hillsborough.
The Dr. Dish machines catch both made and missed shots and continuously return the ball to the player, enabling more than 1,000 shots per hour. They also track shooter stats and provide numerous on-demand training programs led virtually by top coaches.

In addition, the design of the machine naturally improves a player’s shot arc and helps develop the proper muscle memory to build a consistent shot.
"The best shooters in basketball get more shots up than any other players," said Jim Hoyt, the owner of Jump Shot Gym. "If you want to become a great shooter, you need reps, and Jump Shot Gym can help you get a lot more than you would practicing anywhere else."

Jump Shot Gym also will offer various types of live coaching. These include clinics, group training, one-on-one training and camps. Plus, coaches are available to help members with their shooting technique whenever they are training at the gym.
"I want two things for everyone who walks into Jump Shot Gym," Hoyt said. "First, I want them to have a great time. This is a fun place and a basketball lover’s dream. Second, I want to be sure everyone is improving."
Hoyt is a Hillsborough resident who has coached basketball at many levels for the town’s travel, CYO and recreational basketball programs. He also is a USA Basketball Gold Licensed coach and a former Division I scholarship athlete, having played soccer for Rider University.
Jump Shot Gym offers memberships that provide unlimited shooting access and discounts on clinics, camps and parties. The first 100 members will become a part of the gym’s Founding Members program, which offers additional benefits and discounts. Admission to the gym also will be sold to non-members on a walk-in basis.
"Almost everybody walking in to try out the gym has said the same thing — that there is no other place they can walk into and just shoot," Hoyt said. "Finding gym space can be tough, and Jump Shot Gym gives players a reliable way to get as many reps as they can handle."
A ribbon cutting to celebrate the opening of Jump Shot Gym will take place on April 12. Hillsborough Mayor Robert Britting Jr. and township officials will attend the ceremony.
For the entire week, the gym is offering free shooting sessions that can be requested by visiting the gym’s website.
