Library Club Welcomes 1,000th Summer Reader

And more are welcome to join the fun.

Hillsborough Public Library's Summer Reading Club hit a milestone recently, with the 1,000 participant signing up.

The program added summer readers David, Maddie and Sophia Ortiz to the register, with David as the 1000th child to sign up for "Dig Into Reading." He received a certificate from Library Director Edward Hoag.

"We are so proud of this milestone!" Library spokeswoman Mary Nunn said. "Readers of all ages can 'unearth a good book' this summer by joining one of our reading clubs."

Nunn said registration for the club is continues throughout the summer, so there's still time to join in the raffles, trivia questions and programs the club includes all summer long.
