Open Space Changes on Township Committee Agenda
And two fun things for the kids to do this evening.

The Township Committee will hold a public hearing on an ordinance placing a referendum before voters that, if passed, would allow municipal officials to use up to 20 percent of open space tax funds for improvements on protected land.
Currently, the open space funds are restricted to being used only for the purchase of development rights or outright property purchases, but if voters give the OK in the referendum, some of the funds could be used to projects on the lands purchased.
Committee members said that could include passive recreation improvements, such as trails, where appropriate, or ball or soccer fields on site where that would be appropriate.
The committee meets at 7:30 p.m., and before the public gets to speak out on the ordinance, committee members will also review their assignments and comment on events in town.
There's more happening in Hillsborough today, including:
- The Bright Horizons preschool, on Stryker Lane, is hosting its Family and Community Summer Festival from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Bring the kids by to play on the Moon bounce, giant slide, petting zoo and bubble station. It's all free—but you'll need to RSVP by email or by calling 908-281-4477.
- Got older kids looking for something to do? Take them to the library for popcorn and a movie at 6 p.m. Tonight feature: "The Amazing Spiderman."
