4 Hillsborough Retirees Get $100K Pensions

More than 1,200 others throughout the state are on the same list, according to report.

Four former public employees in Hillsborough are part of the so-called "$100K" club, receiving more than $100,000 in pension from the state of New Jersey. All four are former employees of .

Last year, 1,244 former employees collected more than $100,000 the according to New Jersey Watchdog. This number has reportedly increased by 28 percent since 2010. 

Former superintendent Karen Lake tops the Hillsborough list with $131,814. Fellow former superintendent Robert Gulick is next with a $121,756 pension.

Gulick spent 39 years in the district and retired in 2004. He recently was the interim superintendent at the Readington school district. Lake, who served as a superintendent for three districts in a 10-year span and retired in 2007, is currently the interim in Mahwah

Also on the list are George Gonzalez and former Assistant Superintendent Virginia Gittelman. Gonzalez collected $101,937 and Gittelman $100,148.
