Self Defense Course Iffered In Hillsborough

HRC Fitness hosting 2 day safety courses early August.

Self Defense is a lot like defensive driving. It’s more about being aware of your surroundings to avoid putting yourself in a bad situation.

HRC Fitness is hosting a 2-day safety course for students with some safety tips and self-defense techniques that should be followed while on campus or anywhere. These courses are open to the public and are $40 per student.

This course will give you some insight and knowledge on how to avoid getting into a situation and what to do when you find yourself in a confrontation. This course is brought to you by Hillsborough Family Martial Arts at HRC Fitness. Classes will be led by Paul (Aikido Sensei), Jeff (Karate Chief Instructor), and Henry (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Senior Student).

Basic Course Outline

30 minute presentation from the Hillsborough Police Dept.

o Discussion on awareness and how the following course can and will help to avoid getting into a confrontation.

o Real examples from Police experience

o Statistics

o Situational awareness (coopers color code)

§ White – unaware

§ Yellow – relaxed alert

§ Orange – unspecific alert

§ Red – engaged in direct action

o Situational awareness tests / drills

§ Yellow and orange and how to get better at these

o Direct action scenarios and options

§ Possible attacks

§ Tools and applications

§ Escapes and response
