“Employee engagement is key to making the transition from volume to value-based care in today’s fast-changing healthcare environment,” said Merrill Goozner, editor of Modern Healthcare. “Companies designated as best places to work have discovered the key to gaining and maintaining that engagement.”

The annual list was revealed on Aug. 21 by Modern Healthcare, a leading national publication covering news and trends in health care, and the Best Companies Group. RWJUH is the only hospital in New Jersey to rank on the list in 2015.

“What makes this recognition especially meaningful is that it’s driven greatly by feedback from RWJUH staff members. We greatly value our employees’ input about our workplace, and this honor speaks to the excellent work environment that our team has created at our New Brunswick and Somerset campuses and to the outstanding work that all of our employees do on behalf of our patients and the diverse communities that we serve,” said Stephen K. Jones, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and the Robert Wood Johnson Health System.

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital also recently received the 2015 Equity of Care Award from the American Hospital Association (AHA), recognizing it as one of two top-performing hospitals in healthcare diversity and inclusion out of the nation’s more than 5,000 hospitals. The award is presented annually to hospitals or care systems that are noteworthy leaders and examples to the field in the area of equitable care, promoting diversity in leadership and staff within the organization and demonstrating a high level of success in reducing health care disparities.

Modern Healthcare will reveal the ranked order of the 100 Best Places to Work in Healthcare for 2015 at a banquet on Oct. 14 in Nashville during its “Workplace of the Future” conference, and the ranking companies and organizations also will be featured in a special supplement to be published along with the Oct. 19 issue of the magazine.
