Somerset County YMCA Honors Hillsborough Volunteers
A pair of Hillsborough residents were among a number of volunteers recognized by the YMCA.
The Somerset County YMCA has recognized a number of volunteers from around the county, including two from the Hillsborough YMCA.
Volunteers from Bridgewater YMCA, Hillsborough YMCA, Somerset Hills YMCA and Somerville YMCA were honored at a dinner last week on Wednesday, April 28, at the Bridgewater Manor.
“We are so proud to recognize our volunteers who contribute so much of their time and talent to make a difference at our Ys. We are tremendously grateful to all of them,” David M. Carcieri, President and CEO of Somerset County YMCA, said in a release. “Their hard work allows the Y to bring about meaningful change in in the lives of so many in people our community.”

Kristine deBlasi, of Hillsborough, was recognized for her efforts in assisting in child care classrooms at Hillsborough YMCA and for being an advocate of the YMCA’s annual campaign, the Somerset County YMCA said.
“I volunteer at the Y because I like the sense of community focus. They do a lot for the community in the way of keeping people healthy through scholarships for membership, and free programs for our youth” deBlasi said in the release. “The Y provides a safe place for youth while parents work.”

The second Hillsborough resident to be recognized was Allan Mitch, for his efforts in the Child Development Center at Hillsborough YMCA. According to the Somerset County Y, Mitch plays guitar and teaches children to sing.
Nine other volunteers from around Somerset County were recognized at the dinner, including Nina Vitale, Jody D’Agostini and Andrea Thorne, Emma Broos, Linda Martino, Joseph Petite, Tim and Lori Ann Foley, Heidi Kelleher and the Community in Crisis community group.
