Team Readies to Crawl Through Mud for Children's Hospital

Hillsborough family united in commitment to Aug. 3 Warrior Dash obstacle course.

Fundraising runs come in all lengths and challenges, but few can top the "Warrior Dash" to benefit St. Jude Childrens Hospital.

The annual 3.1-mile run includes a mud-filled obstacle course—and this year, a family from Hillsborough hopes to wallow their way through it for the hospital.

The "This is Sparta" team includes Ashley DelVecchio, Keith Urban, Kelly Urban, Andrew Liccardi, Jen Donnelly, Chris Liccardi and Amanda Liccardi—all either current Hillsborough residents or graduates of HHS.

They formed their team and decided to participate after they attended last year's Dash in support of Keith Urban's effort.

"After seeing how much he was able to raise for St. Jude and the wonderful atmosphere at the race, they all joined this year," his mother-in-law, Patty DelVecchio, said. She added the "team members range in age from two to 'really old (me)'."

"Those of us that won't be running are fundraising and will be at the finish line cheering them on," DelVecchio said.

This year's race is at Lewis Morris Park in Morristown Aug. 3.
