After the federal government canceled the Blue Ribbon Schools recognition program, the state of NJ announced 11 winners Wednesday.
HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — One public and one non-public school in Hudson County have received a Blue Ribbon School award, the state Department of Education announced on Wednesday.

A parochial school in Jersey City, Our Lady of Szestochowa, was also recognized.
The annual designation recognizes schools that are either high-performing academically or making progress in "closing achievement gaps among diverse student groups," the state said.
Education Commissioner Kevin Dehmer said, “New Jersey’s 2025 Blue Ribbon Schools demonstrate what is possible when educators, students, and communities work together to support academic growth and opportunity for all learners."
The recipients were announced at a New Jersey State Board of Education meeting on Wednesday.
“On behalf of my colleagues on the State Board of Education, I congratulate the 11 schools being named 2025 New Jersey Blue Ribbon Schools,” said State Board of Education President Kathy Goldenberg.
All public schools in the state are considered annually. Nonpublic schools are nominated by the Council of American Private Education (CAPE).
