HOBOKEN, NJ — Three different women in Hoboken told police that someone riding an ebike groped them on Tuesday afternoon, police said Wednesday.

Two of the incidents happened a block from each other downtown, and a third incident happened about seven blocks away, said a police spokesperson.

Police spokesperson Marci Rubin said Wednesday, "Hoboken Police are investigating three separate reports of women being groped by a person riding an e-bike. These incidents happened near the intersections of Second and Garden Streets, Garden and First Streets, and Willow Avenue and Seventh Street."

The incidents were reported between 1:40 and 2:45 p.m., Rubin said.

Residents have been complaining more and more about people riding ebikes on sidewalks, and about too many delivery people making a living by delivering on an ebike, taking up space on the streets. Recently, an initiative pursued by Councilman Paul Presinzano was passed, saying that ebike deliverers must register with the city.

Rubin said, "All three incidents are being actively investigated as criminal sexual contact."
