4 Restaurants, 2 Apartment Buildings Opening In One Jersey City Neighborhood
Jersey City's growing Bergen Lafayette neighborhood, near Liberty State Park, is getting 2 apartment complexes and 4 new businesses.
JERSEY CITY, NJ — New apartment complexes and restaurants are growing in Jersey City's Bergen-Lafayette section, near Liberty State Park and the adjoining light rail station.
On Thursday, Sept. 12, Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop cut a ceremonial ribbon on what's now the tallest building in that neighborhood — the 24-story Atlas luxury apartment tower from development partners Alpine Residential and Fields Grade.
They also cut the ribbon on the Starling, a smaller collection of 39 apartments from the same developers. Both buildings include unique amenities and will soon have restaurants inside as well.

The businesses are:
- Eggs Up, a breakfast café in the 24-story Atlas rental high-rise, to open at the end of September/beginning of October.
- MochiDough/BoberTea, a premium Japanese donut and bubble tea shop, expected to open November/December at the Starling at 66 Monitor.
- The Roxy, a new venture between some of the team behind Corto in Jersey City Heights, opened its doors this spring in Starling.
- Cheeky’s “New Orleans-style” sandwiches set to open this fall in The Hazel at 89 Monitor St.
"The new retailers will bring an even wider selection of everyday dining choices to residents of Bergen-Lafayette, which has welcomed an eclectic mix of dining, café and shopping experiences in its transformation to a complete urban lifestyle neighborhood," said a spokesperson.
Starling is a boutique collection of 39 luxury apartment residences at 69 Monitor Street, developed by the same partners.
Atlas and Starling (which includes 39 luxury units) are part of The Bergen Lafayette Collection, a series of bespoke mixed-use properties from Alpine Residential and Fields Grade, said a spokesperson.
